10 Ways You Can Help Kids

There are several things that someone can do to make a difference in the life of an abused, neglected or at-risk child. Some ways that you can help include:

  1. Become a volunteer and give your time as an appropriate adult mentor. Giving the gift of your time can mean the world to a child. Office volunteers are always needed as well. Click here to learn more about volunteering your time to Free Arts.

  2. Make a financial donation and tell the world you care about Free Arts Minnesota. Any dollar amount is welcomed and no gift is too large or too small. Click here to make a donation.

  3. Share your Skills. Lead an art skill training session for other volunteers. Provide graphic design and/or printing for an invitation or report. Help with public relations or special events needs.

  4. Contribute Materials or Tickets. Donate new art materials, such as crayons, markers, glue, scissors, fabric, paint, brushes, canvases or other art supplies. Donate gift certificates or merchandise for fundraising auctions. Children always appreciate tickets for arts and cultural events and museums.

  5. Send a Tribute Card. Honor any occasion with a contribution to Free Arts. For a birth, wedding, anniversary, birthday, get well wish or memorial just call the office and we will send a card to commemorate the occasion. Email Courtney or donate online!

  6. Sponsor a Free Arts Day.$5,000 – $10,000 sponsors a Free Arts Day, which allows children in a residential facility to experience a one-day festival of the arts. Individuals, service groups and corporations may sponsor a day, provide volunteers and help select projects for that day.

  7. Check your Company for Corporate Matching Funds.Your gift to Free Arts may be worth more than you think! See if your company has an employee gift-matching program, and then help us double your gift with a corporate match.

  8. Have a Party.Host a party (birthday, graduation, anniversary, holiday or other special occasion) and ask your friends or business associates to make a donation to Free Arts in lieu of gifts. Or have a “crayon party” for any reason with the price of admission being a bag of art supplies.

  9. Attend an Art Rocks! informational session and find out more about the services provided by Free Arts Minnesota and the impact Free Arts has on the Twin Cities community.

  10. Spread the word. Tell your family, friends, co-workers or social acquaintances about the work that we do. Tell them to visit our Web site or attend an Art Rocks! informational session. Hang a volunteer recruitment poster at your church, business or school. The more people that know about Free Arts the more children we are able to serve.
